Statement from Act React

Hi friends.

We’ve been getting a number of inquiries about an upcoming production, and wanted to make a brief public statement to clarify the situation.

It’s been our delight to perform our Drunk Classics show The Importance of Being Wasted since 2021, based on an idea originally discussed almost a decade earlier.

Even before the success of our inaugural season, we established the brand Drunk Classics, as we always intended on bringing more classics to the stage with a drunken twist.

We had decided on the next instalment in 2021, and last year we announced publicly that it would be the Jane Austen-inspired show Wine & Prejudice.

2023 threw a number of health and logistical challenges at us (including a death in the family), so we had pushed back work on the show to fulfil other existing commitments and tours.

A few weeks ago a different Brisbane-based production company - that met with us in 2021 after we first performed Wasted - announced its own version of a drunk Pride & Prejudice adaptation.

We have had numerous people reach out to us with congratulations and/or questions on this development, and so we feel it necessary to clear up any confusion.

That production is NOT connected to Act React, or our Drunk Classics brand.

We appreciate the support of our wonderful Act React audiences and friends at this time. We will continue to plan our next steps for our Drunk Classics series, and work towards creating more unique shows for you all.

Thank you.
